For Iris

Today would have been my mother’s 94th birthday. Sadly she passed away when she was only 76 years old and I still miss her even though we didn’t always see eye-to-eye. Her name was Iris.

I have lived in the UK for most of my life, but when young I definitely had wanderlust and even ended up living in South Africa for several years which was a wonderful experience. I now look forward to a long and leisurely retirement doing what I like most - gardening, photography, walking and travelling.

  1. What a beautiful tribute to your mother.♥ I suppose a mother leaves a big gap when she goes. I dread to think about it. My mother turns 80 next year. I try to spend more time at home in Norway, to be with her. Time, so valuable.
This Iris is majestic. I recently saw the film about Iris Murdoch. So sad, what time and age does.
    Love Dina x

    1. I think the worst time was Mother’s Day the following March when all the shops were filled with cards and gifts for mothers and my daughter was abroad so I was alone with my dad and sons. That’s when I missed female company. Thanks Dina 🙂
