October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came,—
The Ashes, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The sunshine spread a carpet,
And every thing was grand;
Miss Weather led the dancing;
Professor Wind, the band….
The sight was like a rainbow
New-fallen from the sky….

A lovely glimpse of fall, Jude, especially for me here in the south of China where fall has yet to arrive! I’m not sure it will at all. I love the impressionistic view and that green leaf with the red-tinged edges. 🙂
Thanks Cathy! Hope you are well and had a good birthday 🙂 The red-tinged leaf is a gunnera I think. I’ll be leaving this autumn colour behind in a couple of days and heading for the southern hemisphere and spring/summer for a few weeks! Oh, how nice it will be to see some sun, sand and sea in Sydney 😀 and my lovely grandson too…of course. Just a matter of 30 hours of travel ahead 😦
All is well here, Jude. I had an adventurous birthday as I went to Detian Waterfall on the Vietnam border. I wrote about it in my blog.
Oh boy, nice you get to escape to Sydney to see your grandson and enjoy the warm weather, notwithstanding the 30 hours of travel. Have a great trip!!
Relish it!
Lovely selection of autumn photo’s Jude! We are going into summer now!
I’m heading south for a few weeks so shall have a bit more summer myself 🙂 By the time I get back all this lovely autumnal colour will be gone.
Love the reflections Jude. Hope you have an uneventful journey over here. Safe travelling to you.
Reblogged this on Festival of Leaves.
So many wonderful perspectives of autumn, you captured the atmosphere, the light so perfectly. And that’s a great poem, I love it ;D Thanks so much for sharing Jude
xx
Thank YOU! Nice to have a challenge at this time of year, though I am going to have to schedule the next couple of posts as I shall be travelling. And it will probably be over by the time I get back.
I’m very happy that you join the challenge. Have a nice time travelling. Where are you going?
I think I’ll keep the challenge up until mid of december…
Australia, so no autumn leaves there!
Gorgeous pictures – autumn is a lovely season!
I love autumnal colours – my sort of colouring, the reds, oranges, brunettes, golds, bronze and burnished coppers 😀
October gave a party. That is perfect! And what a glorious party it was . Thanks for all the rich autumnal treats:-)
Isn’t it a perfect poem? Thanks for your lovely comment too 🙂
Those reflections are wonderful – as are all your photos! Thank you for giving a poor deprived Australian a taste of autumn colour.
I’ve scheduled a few more whilst I am away, so the treat isn’t over yet 😉
