Festival of Leaves: October Gave A Party

light on leaves

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came,—
The Ashes, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The sunshine spread a carpet,
And every thing was grand;
Miss Weather led the dancing;
Professor Wind, the band….
The sight was like a rainbow
New-fallen from the sky….

  1. A lovely glimpse of fall, Jude, especially for me here in the south of China where fall has yet to arrive! I’m not sure it will at all. I love the impressionistic view and that green leaf with the red-tinged edges. 🙂

    • Thanks Cathy! Hope you are well and had a good birthday 🙂 The red-tinged leaf is a gunnera I think. I’ll be leaving this autumn colour behind in a couple of days and heading for the southern hemisphere and spring/summer for a few weeks! Oh, how nice it will be to see some sun, sand and sea in Sydney 😀 and my lovely grandson too…of course. Just a matter of 30 hours of travel ahead 😦

  2. So many wonderful perspectives of autumn, you captured the atmosphere, the light so perfectly. And that’s a great poem, I love it ;D Thanks so much for sharing Jude
