    • Well, I don’t think we are quite there yet! And March has definitely roared in like a lion! According to astronomers spring begins this year on March 20th and ends on 21st June. In Cornwall they monitor seven Champion Magnolia campbellii trees to see exactly when they bloom. When all seven trees have at least 50 blooms spring will have arrived in Cornwall ๐Ÿ˜€

      • Our seasons begin on the first of the month, so 1st March was our first day of Autumn. You wouldn’t know it though, with days of 30+ degrees forecast all this week.

That’s an interesting story about the Magnolia trees blooming. I hope spring arrives soon for you.

    • meteorological spring begins on 1 March every year and ends on 31 May, allowing weather forecasters to accurately make comparisons between different springs.

The dates I am used to uses the astronomicalseasons, based on the solstices and equinoxes that occur around the year. So this year it starts on 20th March. Last year it was 19th March.

I must have missed when it changed to using the meteorological meaning!

Anyway, today is bright and sunny and windy (though it did try and snow early on). Bring on the lighter evenings! I can’t wait for the clocks to spring forward ๐Ÿ˜€

        • Those temps are higher than our summer! You guys are getting hotter and hotter – soon Australia will burn up! Then you’ll all have to move to New Zealand or Tasmania ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

        • Yes, I heard not long ago that January was our hottest month, this summer was our hottest and last year was the hottest on record. I love summer so I think I will stay put. NZ and Tassie are amazing to visit but I think the cold weather would put paid to me!

  1. Jude – I’ve loved daffodils since I was a youngster and Mom planted them next to our side fence. Ever since they’ve been my harbinger of spring. And I’ll be damned if I can get even two bulbs to blossom no matter how many gardens I’ve tried them in ๐Ÿ˜–

    • Just buy them when flowering ๐Ÿ™‚
I’m not sure I have any growing this year either as I emptied all my pots last year and then just threw a whole load of bulbs back in them before I headed off to Australia at the beginning of November. I shall keep you posted as I have seen some signs of life, but what life I haven’t a clue!
