Imperial fritillaries are the first whopper garden bulb to flower in spring. You’ve got alliums, lilies and eremurus later, but it’s the good old crown imperial which gives you drama early in the year

Another one I haven’t seen in the states. The third photo elicited a “uhhh (intake breath) WOW”. It is gorgeous!!
They are somewhat impressive. Never grown them, but they seem popular in woodland gardens.
They look like a moist forest plant. Quite lovely

I think I’ve found a new floral love.
Gilly reckons I can grown them in a container so I shall have a go next year (well I suppose one plants them in the autumn so this year really).

Stockton-Bury Garden in Herefordshire – opened again on April 1 so I just had to go and have a wander around didn’t I? And they do a very nice Cajun chicken sandwich too 😀
