Felbrigg Hall Walled Garden – Pond and Dovecote
After the blues, purples and paler colours that seem to dominate late spring and early summer, August is full of bolder colours. Reds, oranges, crimsons and deep purples now join in. Though blue still holds its own with hydrangeas, veronicas, agapanthus and fuchsias in full bloom this month.

Jude these are beautiful and I who barely knows a petunia from a poppy just soaks in the colors and lovely images. Here we were down to freezing last night so any flowers left will be of sturdy character. 🙂
We have had some chilly nights too but not down to freezing thank goodness! I love the late, WARM, summer evenings to sit outside and we don’t seem to have had them this year. Today was hot, 30 degrees, but fortunately a breeze so it didn’t feel too hot.
I’m very fond of the yellow, brown and orange daisy type flowers in late summer, can’t wait t see what you find at Nyman’s. I drove past some incredible big lilies in Beer last weekend, lovely but almost crazy x:-)x
If I get to Nymans! Twisted my ankle today whilst at Painshill Park and the Achilles tendon is flaring up again. I don’t seem to be able to walk for more than a couple of hours nowadays. It is SO annoying.
Oh no, bless you, that’s hideous. I get back ache if I walk for too long. I’m sure you’ve got it elevates and ice packed, take it easy and fingers crossed!

In August here the wattle starts blooming. It’s so nice to drive along country roads seeing the golden blossoms.
I was in WA during August 12 years ago and remember the beautiful golden balls on the wattle trees.

You like the new theme? I am always nervous about changing themes as often older posts don’t look right, but I quite like this one so far.

I had done clever header stuff too (poster edges) but I also changed the theme so the header photo is much bigger. I checked some older posts and they look OK, but no-one ever reads older posts. Maybe I should just re-blog them all. Save me a lot of time 🙂
I dare you! 🙂 Start at the beginning and see who notices. No- I’m joking. Just occasionally I read one of my older ones and it’s mostly a pleasant surprise, but it’s surprising how the style changes, as you relax into it, I suppose.

Well on this blog they are mainly flowers so I could reblog the gardens. Weather not too bad here despite threat of heavy rain and lightning, though apparently the OH has it bad in the Shires!
I assumed he was with you! We got blown along the Headland this morning with the waves whopping about 🙂 Love the sea when it’s like that. Sat out for a short while after Sunday lunch but the sun has moved around a bit and I need to get on with the walk. Mick is busy in the garden so I’ll keep popping out to ‘supervise’ 🙂

Thanks Meg. Ankle still painful and swollen this morning so I have wrapped some ice around it. Managed to hobble outside to feed the menagerie, but I think that’s as far as I am going today as I have a trip planned for tomorrow and need the foot!
The header has a poster edge effect. I found that emphasises the details. What do you think of the new look?
Such vibrant colours they shout summer. Sorry to hear of the twisted ankle, hope it soon comes right. How annoying when there is so much to see in a new area. I really like your new theme the header is stunning and I like the unobtrusive pop down menu option. I’ve been looking around for a new theme as when I put mine into a single column all the menus disappear.
I am always nervous about changing a theme, but I wanted to improve this site. It seems to work well and I like the large header file and the very plain background to show off the photos.
It is a good one, works well.
