Following on from my Bench Challenge, which has been running over on Travel Words during 2015, I have decided to see if people would like to join me in a challenge on this blog. Jo from Restlessjo put the idea into my head. My problem was what kind of challenge? Many other bloggers have ‘Word/Photo a Week’ challenges and I want to keep this purely to a garden theme, though not necessarily floral. As someone who loves to visit other people’s gardens, whether private or public, I would love to see and read about the gardens YOU visit and enjoy and the reasons which draw you to them. It may be the garden design, it may be the community spirit, the sculptures, the peacefulness, the planting or something else. You might even like to share your own garden.
Please read through the Guidelines for instructions of how to join in with this monthly challenge and I hope I will see many of you joining me on the blog each month in 2016.
Look out for the first theme which will be published on the first Sunday in January – A Winter Garden. And if you are not following this blog, then please do, so you don’t miss the challenge when it begins 🙂
A great idea, Jude, but I’ll miss your benches. Maybe we’ll find a few scattered around in the gardens. 😀
I’m sure we will Sylvia 🙂
I’m so excited for this challenge. Count me in! 🙂

Oh good!
How exciting, I’m thrilled to bits with this one, well done babe x:-)x
We’ll see how it goes 🙂
Oh, how lovely. I can’t wait to visit the gardens of the world with everyone. And where is the garden in this photo Jude? Is it a maze?
I hope it draws in some bloggers, though probably not as many as the bench series has! The maze is in a NT garden in Cornwall – Glendurgan, down on the Helford River. I beleive you have seen this post already, but here is a reminder: https://smallbluegreenflowers.wordpress.com/2015/06/15/garden-portrait-glendurgan/
🙂
Yes, I remembered it as soon as I looked again. I love that maze.
Good idea! Though I’m gonna struggle with that winter theme, unless I have an old photo from my time in London.
You have photos of a glasshouse? Or even indoor plants? You could even use photos of winter in the southern hemisphere. It is a very broad theme 😀
Neat idea, Jude. Will you send a reminder each month, or do we need to diarise? Also, I’m just wondering if we should post a parched brown lawn in your January winter theme, or maybe something from our winter which just happens to be 180 degrees out of sync LOL. Cheers, Ken
If you are following this blog then you should see my monthly post about the challenge which will give you the theme for that month. I look forward to seeing how you interpret them 🙂
Yes, of course. I realised that after I hit send! I like the fact you don’t need an overnight response and give us the whole month to respond. I’m looking forward to the challenge 🙂
Great idea!
I hope you’ll join me 🙂
I will 🙂
I hope it goes well, Jude. I’m pretty sure it will because you have so many garden lovers in your followers (self included and many thanks for the mention). I expect I’ll cheat my way through the odd one or two. 🙂 Heaven knows when I’m going to rid myself of all the superfluous benches.
Well I am sure a bench or two might slip in 🙂
I will miss the benches too! But I look forward to your garden theme! The Sunday wouldn’t be right with your challenge!
Aw, that’s an awfully nice thing to say tgeriatrix – I’d love to know your name – and I hope you will continue to join me on a Sunday 🙂
I will defintely join. My name is Traudel – very German!
Oh, great idea Jude! I shall look forward to a great set of tours around gardens…and might add one or two of my own…..
I hope you will!
😀
