One of the lovely Ents that stand by the side of the roads in Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Did Tolkien get his inspiration from them?

  1. Beautiful! Looks like they could have been the inspiration!

A new iPad and this displays beautifully. It’s been a long time between trees. A splendid tree against a spl ndid sky, and an interesting Tolkein speculation. Have you moved yet? Packing for a year is trauma enough – can’t imagine a total move. Stay relaxed!!!

  3. Lucid Gypsy says:

Definitely inspiring, just like the ones in Devon 🌳

  4. It looks like those branches might reach out and grab unwary passersby at any moment.

  5. What a brilliant photograph! Tolkein actually went to King Edward’s School for a time which is right next door to our garden…

A picture to fire one’s dark imaginings.

I think he maybe did 🙂 Looking for this week’s mono, but I might be in the wrong place. 😦 Hope this weekend was productive and that you now can’t wait to move in. 🙂

Well he spent a lot of time in Worcestershire / Herefordshire when he was living in Birmingham. And I swear the Welsh mountains influenced him. (And why is it that when you see a house empty you find numerous things wrong with it?)

Oh, oh! Not too many I hope? Hope you’ve got your feet up and a drink to hand. Or is there still supper to cook? Don’t look at me! Mick’s having fried potatoes and beans 😦

Supper in oven. Wine poured. I have my priorities right 😉
