In the period leading to Christmas some people buy an Advent Calendar to check off each day before December 25. Usually intended for children, it appears that in recent years there has been a rise in the popularity of luxury ones aimed at indulgent adults who feel the necessity to treat themselves on the run-up to the big day itself – from expensive candles and perfume to miniature bottles of Prosecco or Whisky and even chunks of cheese.
So I thought to balance all this extravaganza I would offer you an alternative in the form of a flower a day from Sunday 3rd December until Sunday 24th December.

Green tinsel 🙂
Do you know what plant this is Jude?
Afraid not, though the leaves look like it could be some kind of eucalyptus. I will try and get another photo when it is in flower.
You do realise that between you and Becky I’m having to work overtime to keep up? 🙂 🙂 Nice image but sky wins it today.
I’d already scheduled all my Advent flowers before Becky started her challenge and I have soooo many skies I just have to join in! Sorry for causing you more work… You had snow? Or is it just Tish in Shropshire?
Just Tish, but we were chatting about it this morning. I think we may have some tomorrow but she has oodles! 🙂 🙂 And a lovely post!
It sounds like she is going to have a real dump on Sunday! We’ve had a bit of sleet and hail.
We’re heading for Leeds then and it’s not looking great 😦 Unless you love snow…
On Sunday? You must be mad woman. Stay at home. The snow looks to be spread right over the midlands and into west Yorkshire. Could be crazy on the roads.
I know! We would have been better going today. We are taking a sledge… 🙂
Oh, please take care!
We’ll try! It’s a lovely sunny day here, if you don’t mind a bit of cold. 🙂
Damp, grey but warmish here and no wind, though I believe we are in for another windy day tomorrow.
It reminds me of the kind of wooden cross-fencing that we sometimes see. All of those “Xs” through the middle are really cool.
Unusual leaves
Do you know what it is Pauline? It looks like some kind of eucalyptus leaf to me. I need to see it in flower.
It does look like eucalyptus doesn’t it? I’ve never seen one in flower, so it’s nice to see something new. I like all the diamond shapes as well 🙂
Must try and remember where on the walk this is and get some photos at different times of the year.
