“Yet still the unresting castles thresh
In full-grown thickness every May.
Last year is dead they seem to say,
Begin afresh, afresh, afresh!”
~Larkin.

Pennies from Heaven
When the trees get dressed in spring it is as though they have decided to go to a party! Beautiful copper leaves translucent in the sunshine. Possibly a Copper Beech tree. I’m afraid my tree ID knowledge is pretty ropey.
Mine too. They keep their identifying features too high up! I love Larkin. And your photo against all that blue.
Ah, yes, the blue…
Almost like autumn leaves
We didn’t get much in the way of autumn colours last year. But I shall make sure I have a look at this tree.
Looks like Autumn colour in the Header. I love standing under a big copper beech and looking through at the sunlight. That post of Tish’s on the leaves was exquisite. Wishing you another happy, sunny day! 🙂 🙂
Better spring colour here than autumn. The leaves on this one were so dense! Absolutely gorgeous colour.
I must admit the trees are so plentiful and beautiful here in the UK it is enjoyable walking among them while out dog walking! The sun has being shining more this year than our last years visit!!
Whereabouts are you in the UK?
At the moment in North Yorkshire until the end of May then end down to Devon for a week and further south for a few months.
It will be busy in the south during the school holidays. Tell me, do you get paid for house-sitting or is it based on free accommodation for looking after the pets? In which case I suppose you have to fund your own travel to each place.
No we don’t get paid Jude, its a mutual win-win situation. We go through Trusted Housesitters.
Looks like a copper beech and lovely whatever it is.
The second time I went to England I had just finished reading Maeve Binchy’s “The Copper Beech” and I was so excited when I saw one in the grounds of Jane Austen’s home at Chawton. Beautiful photo, Jude.
