garden photography: water off a duck’s back

In March I’m looking for Wildlife in the Garden

(This month I want to see photos and stories about wildlife in the ‘garden’ – insects, spider, birds, rabbits, hedgehog, fox, snake (!) whatever you can find in your garden, public gardens, lakes, parks. But please not the family dog!)

ducklings

An unexpected sight in a local garden last year – duck and ducklings on the pond in the rain. One of the reasons I love visiting the annual ‘Small Gardens‘ event.

If you would like to join in with Garden Photography then please take a look at my Garden Photography Page. No complicated rules 🙂

  • Create your own post and title it MarchWildlife in the Garden
  • Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
  • Add the tag “GardenChallenge” so everyone can find the posts easily in the WP Reader
  • Get your post in by the end of the month, as the new theme comes out on the first Sunday in April.
  • Please visit the sites in the comments to see what others are posting.

This is the last week for showing me your wildlife images. Next week I am looking for Macros or close-ups in the garden. Thanks to everyone who joined in with the wildlife challenge, it has been wonderful to see the varied and unusual and I appreciate all your entries and all the comments left on mine. Apologies if I missed any but it has been a very busy and somewhat stressful month. Hopefully April will be much better 🙂

    • Thanks DJ – by the end of the week it will be all over, bar the unpacking at the other end of course, but that can wait a while. I have never cleaned so much in such a short while!

      • LOL good work! I actually started unpacking my spare room last night – actually it has felt like I’m living in a one-bedroom apartment for the last three months, the room was crammed full of al the boxes that haven’t been urgent. Anyway, progress has been made! Good luck to you!!

        • I know exactly how you feel! We’ll be living in half the house as we want to remodel the other half so no point in unpacking a lot of boxes and we have SO many boxes! (So many books!)

        • Yes!! Books!! That’s mostly what I have left to unpack. I sold my bookcases so need to get new ones. But the boxes of books are currently sitting where the bookcases need to go. So I’ve kind of cleared the space where the book boxes can go, now I just have to move them, but and build the bookcases, fill the bookcases and sort out my life LOL. And so much cardboard to get rid of!!

  1. Hey Jude, I’m so happy I found you and your post and the monthly photo challenges. I had already posted a couple of wildlife photos this month, so I will put together the pictures in one blog so I can get into the photo challenge for March. I’m so excited.
    Thank you, Rosie

    • my goodness them’s BIG smilies Jo!
House cleaned, patio washed and now I am tucking into a (cold) pizza and a bottle of red wine! Camping out on the top floor. Still bits to clear up – cardboard to recycle – then car to pack , but tomorrow should be a restful day, if only I had something to rest on! Lucky with the weather, sunny until this afternoon when we had a heavy shower, but they were gone by then. Hope it is dry in Cornwall tomorrow!

      • BIG smilies??? Not on purpose 😦 You obviously still have an internet connection even if no blow up bed 🙂 Maybe your local could offer you a bed for the night?

        • Weird – they are enormous when I view the comment through the notification list, but if I go to the actual comment on the post they are normal. WP playing about again I guess. I do have a blow up bed, but have you ever tried sitting on one? And we bought a little EE wifi when we were in Cornwall last year to use in holiday lets without wifi. I usually connect to BT Fon but for some reason I can’t get a good connection here. B&B – now why didn’t I think of that? Though actually I quite like indoor camping 😉

        • So long as you’ve got your wine 🙂 The ‘i’ key on my laptop’s gone sulky so I have to keep backtracking to fill them in. Grrr! Can’t even blame WP.

  2. I finally found my slow worm photos, so here is one of them: http://tishfarrell.com/2016/03/30/warning-reptile-alert/ And then I’d just finished the post when I saw that Anna from Una Vista di San Fermo had nominated me for the nature pic challenge that everyone is doing – so they got combined – not to waste a good slow worm pic. Hope you don’t mind being combined. I promise not to nominate you, unless you’d like to be nominated of course 🙂

    • I don’t mind being combined at all Tish, if it means I have two pairs of hands! I probably have enough to do for now without more challenges, but thanks for the thought 😀

let's get chatting...
